Abstract
723,047. Pneumatic conveyers. JENNINGS, H. W. K. (Smidth & Co. Aktieselskab, F. L.). June 29, 1953 [June 27, 1952], No. 16272/52. Class 78 (1). Powdered or granular material is discharged from a closed tank 1 into a pipe-line 4 by compressed air supplied through a pipe 26 and thence through a pipe 6 to the upper part of the tank and through a pipe 7 to nozzles 5 projecting into the pipe line downstream of the outlet of the tank. Compressed air is supplied to the lower part of the tank through porous material 9 which may be filter stone, felt or woven fabric. The bottom of the tank is formed by a plate 13 which has a central opening 14 and supports a removable annular plate 16. A series of plates 16 is provided having orifices of different sizes from which one is selected suitable for the particular material being conveyed. The bottom 13 has a lining of porous material to which air is fed through the pipe 15. An equalizing pipe 17 connects the top of the tank to the pipe line. Valves 8, 27 are provided on the pipes 6, 7 and pipe 17, respectively. In a modification the outlet from the tank is controlled by an adjustable conical valve member.
