Abstract
784,900. Pneumatic conveyers. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP DE BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM MAATSCHAPPIJ. Jan. 25, 1956 [Jan. 27, 1955], No. 2424/56. Class 78(1). In a conveyer for powdered or granular material a vertical pipe 2 for the conveying gas stream leads to a vertical riser 1 into which the material passes from the supply chamber 5 through one or more annular passages 4 and nozzles 18, 6 are provided in the chamber 5 above and below the bottom of the riser, respectively, through which gas is supplied to fluidize the material. The upper end of the pipe 2, Fig. 1, projects into the riser 1 and the passage 4 is the space between them. In a modification, Fig. 3, the ends of the riser 1 and pipe 2 are shaped and arranged so that there is a constriction at the passage 10. In a further modification, Fig. 5, a series of overlapping rings 12 of increasing diameter are arranged between the ends of the pipes 1, 2 to provide passages 11.
