722,979. Diaphragm fuel pumps. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Dec. 4, 1952. [Dec. 24, 1951] No. 30736/52. Class 102 (1). In a diaphragm fuel pump, the diaphragm 38 is actuated on its delivery stroke by a spring 46 and on the suction stroke by a lever 52 oscillated through lever 30 by a cam 32 which also actuates a vacuum pump through lever 26. The fuel pump may be actuated manually by a lever 70 secured to a shaft 72 that carries a lever 86 engaging a pin 98 on a reciprocable member 94 that has an extension 102 engaging the lever 52 but which is held out of contact with the lever 52, during normal operation by the cam, by a spring or the weight of the lever 70.
