Abstract

851,486. Windscreen cleaners. SWFSPEZIALFABRIK FUR AUTOZUBEHOR G. RAU G.m.b.H. April 9, 1957 [May 12, 1956], No. 11623/57. Class 138(1). A windscreen washing device in which the washing liquid pump is driven by the windscreen wiper motor and may be temporarily linked thereto by means of a mechanically or electrically operable device. As shown, cam 3 on shaft 13 is driven by the windscreen wiper motor and causes the reciprocation of intermediate member 4 when it is released by locking device 7. Thus when electromagnet 6 is energised, locking device 7 is withdrawn and intermediate member 4 causes reciprocation of pump plunger 5 to operate pump 8. When de-energised, intermediate member 4 is locked in a position as shown in Fig. 3 and pump 8 is inoperative. The location of cam 3 on shaft 13 is such that the maximum torque requirement of the pump coincides with the minimum torque requirement of the wiper arms during their arcs of movement.
