739,754. Tappets. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Jan. 18, 1954 [Jan. 30, 1953], No. 1374/54. Class 80 (3). [Also in Group XXVIII] The diaphragm of a fuel pump is actuated by a cam 28 through a lever 24 that carries a shoe 100 having a curved surface engaging the cam. The lever is fitted with a pin 112 that extends into slots 107 in the sides of the shoe so that the shoe can move relatively to the lever. In a modification, the lever is formed of laminations 72 and the heads 88, 90 of the pin 75 slide in grooves 86, 87 in the shoe. The lever may in addition actuate a diaphragm vacuum pump.
