722,955. Boiler furnaces. VANDEVELDE, A. Sept. 9, 1952, [Sept. 11, 1951.] No. 22633/52. Class 51 (1). A solid-fuel hopper-fed boiler furnace is arranged to provide a fuel bed 5 externally bounded by a natural slope 5a and beneath this bed and supplied thereby a second fuel bed bounded by natural slopes 8 onto which substantially all the primary air is delivered, ashes being removed from the lower bed by pushers 9 each acting in a direction towards a slope 8. The lower fuel bed or beds are supported on imperforate supports 7, but in modifications the supports may be perforate and inclined or arcuate. Combustion air is supplied at 4 and products of combustion are exhausted at 21.
