718,950. Scaffold clamps. WIJN, F. F. DE. Jan. 15, 1953, No. 1227/53. Class 20 (2) A clamp for connecting scaffold tubes 1, 2 at right angles comprises a central box-section body of four plates 3, 6, 7 and another not shown welded edge to edge, each plate at one end having a semi-cylindrical cut-out and at the other end being formed with two spaced hooks 5, and in each pair of opposed plates, a hinge pin 11 is welded in the hooks 5 of one plate and engages an eye 10 of a clamping strap 8 which at the other end is formed with a hole 9 adapted to receive a wedge 12 which bears against the inner sides of the hooks 5 on the other plate. The strap 8 comprises a strip of sheet metal, both ends being folded to the inside for shaping the eyes 9, 10, the free ends being welded to each other and to the outer strip at 8'. The bottom of the wedge hole 9 is formed centrally with a bearing rib 13 for the wedge 12.
