Abstract

288,511. Scaffolding (Great Britain), Ltd., and Jones, D. Palmer-. Dec. 12, 1927. Scaffolding. - A clamp for tubes comprises a stirrup A which embraces one tube B and has its two arms A<3> grooved to receive a second tube C. The arms are provided with bearing faces A<5>, A<6> inclined to each other to meet on the side towards the tubes, and coacting with these bearing surfaces are trunnions D<2>, E<2> on a two-part clamping device D, E, relative adjustment between the parts of which causes the tube C to be gripped between two parts D<2>, E<4>, and to be pressed against the tube B. The parts D<2>, E<4> are recessed at D<5>, E<5>, respectively, so that when tubes are clamped in parallel relationship, Fig. 5, these recesses fit around the tubes. To prevent twisting, the parts E<4> are guided between the jaws of the stirrup.
