Abstract

778,387. Clamp fastenings. RAPID METAL DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd. March 21, 1955 [Jan. 5, 1954], No. 226/54. Class 44. [Also in Group X] A clamping coupling consists of a pair of pressed metal members 5 each having a dissimilar jaw 6, 7 at its respective ends, one jaw 6 having an inwardly turned hook and the other 7 being arcuate, a flat strap 12 arranged between said jaws, said members being assembled in opposed relationship and combining to form two dissimilar end clamps, and a screw-threaded clamping bolt 9, engaging registering holes 10, in said straps and adapted when tightened against one of said straps to draw said end clamps towards one another so as to clamp dissimilar articles placed between said end clamps. The holes 10 are plain and one strap has a nut 13 welded to it in alignment with its hole 10 to engage the screw thread of the bolt 9. The jaws 6 are intended to engage the end of a telescopic strut of the type described in Specification 746,083, [Group X], to connect the strut with a prop 2 for strutting trench or culvert linings. The jaws 8 engage the prop 2.
