749,754. Scaffold clamps. WIJNEN, J. Feb. 16, 1953 [Feb. 20, 1952], No. 4205/53. Class 20(2). The body plate for a scaffold clamp is formed by bending and pressing a sheet metal blank so that the thickness of the central part is reduced to form a curved seating 12 for a scaffold tube and apertures are punched to leave strips 2 which are used as swivel pins for the clamp straps 3, 5, Fig. 9. The blank is bent along two diameters at right angles so that two opposed swivel pins are bent in the opposite direction to the other pair of opposed swivel pins. The blank may be in the form of a cross, Fig. 2, (not shown). The nose of the strap 5, Fig. 9, engages between side plates of the strap 6 and is secured by a screw 18 or by a wedge 17. A strap, Fig. Sa, is formed in a loop and a wedge is adapted to be driven through the slot 9 and aligned slots in the other strap.
