Abstract

942,652. Clamps. BOULTON SCAFFOLDING Ltd. Nov. 23, 1959 [Aug. 21, 1958], No. 20866/58. Heading E2B. In a scaffold coupling comprising two tubereceiving faces at right angles to one another tongue-like hooked projections 2, 3, Fig. 1- carrying dependent lugs 12 the latter project from each face at opposite edges thereof. Each projection 2 pivotally mounts a tee bolt 4 for tube-clamping engagement with a cover 8 which is hingedly connected to the associated projection 3. The hinged connection is effected by forming an aperture 11, Fig. 2, in the base of the projection 3 and stamping out a substantially U-shaped slot 13 having arms 14 and a projecting ear 16 in the cover end 8a such that a tongue piece 15 having a recess 17 protrudes from the plane of the end. The distance between the base of the recess 17 and the tip of the ear 16 is less than the thickness of the projection 3 so that on assembly of the cover to the body 1 of the coupling and subsequent realignment of the tongue 15, Fig. 4, the ear 16 and the lugs 12 will be fixedly engaged within the aperture 11 and the slot arms 14, respectively.
