995,428. Stud and socket fastenings. DURABLE INSULATION & ACOUSTIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 11, 1963 [Oct. 11, 1961], No. 36436/61. Heading E2B. In an arrangement for connecting two structural elements 2, 6 together so that surfaces of the elements are maintained in close abutting relationship, a wedging plate 7 is attached to one element 2 to be flush with or slightly below the abutting surface thereof 4, the plate 7 overlying at least a portion of a groove 1 in that surface, and an elongated projection 12 extending from a surface of the other element and engageable with the groove in the other element when the elements are in face-to-face relationship, the projection having a wedging surface 17 engageable with the wedging plate. As shown, the plate 7 is tapered in thickness towards the open end of a slot 10, and the projection 12, consists of a wooden section 14 and a metal section 13, which latter provides the surfaces 17. In another arrangement Fig. 4 (not shown) the projection forms part of a plate like member which is screwed to the second element.
