Means for fastening a piece of electrical equipment 9 onto a supporting rail 2 comprises a resilient metal fastening member 3 fixed to the bottom surface of the base 1 of the piece of electrical equipment, the fastening means including a V-shaped latch 3 c with two parallel limbs 3c<SP>1</SP> near one end portion for engaging the side of the supporting rail, each parallel limb having a cut out portion forming a tongue 3d adapted to contact the underside of the rail, the end portion of the fastening member adjacent the latch joining the two limbs of the latch and projecting beyond the end of the base 1 to leave between the end portion 3 e and the end of the base 1 an opening 3f for the insertion of a tool' adapted to disengage the latch from the rail, the fastening member including cut out hooks 3b, 3b<SP>1</SP> located opposite the latch and adapted to engage below the supporting rail on the side opposite the tongues 3d, the connection between the member 3 and the base 1 being made non-detachable by means of hollow rivets 5 passing through registering holes in the member 3, base 1, and piece of equipment 9. Instead of clamping the piece of equipment 9 to the rail 2 using the member 3 it can be secured by placing a fastening strap below the rail and screwing screws inserted in the rivets 5 thereinto.
