Abstract

1296677 Releasable fasteners F T PRODUCTS Ltd 26 March 1970 [28 March 1969] 16332/69 Heading E2B A resilient fastener for attaching an elongate member to a support, comprises a body portion 14 having a downwardly directed bearing surface adapted to bear against the support, means on or incorporated in the Body portion for use in attaching the body portion to the support and an inverted-U-shaped arm 18 having two limbs which are disposed on one side of the body portion and extend in a direction generally perpendicular to the said bearing surface with the open mouth 23 of the U- shaped arm directed towards the plane containing the bearing surface, wherein the arm is formed with an internal restriction 25 spaced from the open mouth and wherein the distance between a free end of one limb of the U and the plane containing the said bearing surface of the body portion is less than that between the limbs of the inverted-U at the restriction. In the construction shown there are two identical said arms connected to opposite sides of the body and a neck of each arm is formed with coplanar shoulders 27, 28, 29, 30 facing away from the open mouth of the arm and adapted to support the elongate article and resist removal of it from the arm. The means for attaching the body to the support as shown as a resiliently compressible shank 11 which comprises two resilient tongues 14 and 15 which are joined to a central web 16, the tongues being formed with external shoulders 14a, and I5a and the shank having a rounded nose 17 to facilitate insertion through a circular aperture in the support. The body also includes a skirt 12. In a modification however the means for attaching the body to the support is an aperture which extends through the body and is intended to receive a screw.
