Abstract

857,075. Furniture joints. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. Dec. 24, 1957 [March 19, 1957], No. 9024/57. Class 52(2) [Also in Group XXV] A fastener device for securing together e.g. elements 21, 23 comprises a sheet-metal member 1 having a projecting finger 4 and a sheet-metal member 7 which is bent to provide a channel 8 for the reception of the finger, resilient tongues 17 being pressed out of the web portion 10 of the channel 8 to extend inwardly thereof for gripping the finger 4 to resist its removal. The member 1 is secured to the element 21 by screws and the member 7 which is preferably provided with a back plate 18 is similarly secured to the other element. The finger 4 may project from the body portion 2 of the member 1 at other than right angles thereto, and flanges 15 on the member 7 may lie otherwise than in a plane parallel to the plane of the web portion 10. The elements 21, 23 may comprise prefabricated parts of furniture or panelling for enclosing a bath.
