Abstract
582,504. Fastenings. GAZLEY, R. C. Oct. 29, 1943, No. 17951. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 29, 1943.] [Class 44] A fastener comprises a stud having a shank 17 passing through holes 20, 21 in the members 22, 23 to be secured, a reduced shank portion 24 having flats 25 and locking members 26, 27 extending laterally from the end. A resilient clamping member has feet 31 which rest against or may be secured to the member 23 and is slotted and bowed to form two resilient members 29, 30 that have cut-out portions 33, 34. The locking members 26, 27 are shaped so that they pass through the cut-out portions and when the stud is given a quarter-turn, they ride over and depress the members 29, 30 ; stops 35, 36 limit the amount that the stud can be rotated. The faces 25 rest against the members 29, 30 so that any turning of the stud will cause them to be resiliently forced apart. The faces 25 on the shank may be slightly curved. In a modification shown in Fig. 11, the arms 53, 54 of the clamping member are inclined in opposite directions relatively to the axis of the stud.
