629,937. Stud-and-socket fastenings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and ADDIS, W. A. Dec. 24, 1947, No. 34202 [Class 44] In a stud and socket fastener the stud 15 is formed with a part 15a of oblong cross-section for engagement with at least one spring 20, 21 anchored to the member 10 carrying the stud, the major axis of the oblong being transverse to the spring when the fastener is in the unlocked position and the minor axis of such a length that the springs are not loaded when the fastener is in the locked position. A cross-limb 17 for engagement with the second member 11 is formed with faces f7a serving as cams to pull the members towards one another during movement of the cross-limb from the unlocked to the locked position. The head 12 of the stud may be countersunk in the member 10 and slotted at 13 to facilitate rotation. Lips 25 formed adjacent the aperture 22 in the member 11 form stops limiting the rotation of the stud. In another form the head of the stud is rounded and not countersunk.
