Abstract

1,147,914. Clips; stud and socket fasteners. A. RAYMOND. 12 Dec., 1967 [12 Dec., 1966; 20 Feb., 1967], No. 56421/67. Heading E2B. A clip 12 for attaching a cable or like to a support comprises a body portion 13, a shank 14 extending from one side of the body portion, means for locking the shank in an aperture in the support, at least one groove 18 or 19 extending across a surface of the body portion and retaining means movable relative to the body portion into a position to close the open mouth of the groove or grooves. As shown, in which the clip is made from a plastics material, a pin 15 which is initially integral with the body portion 13, is driven into a bore 24 to expand the shank 14 into gripping engagement with the aperture in the support, the pin being formed with projections 26, 27, which constitute the retaining means. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), only one groove and one projection are provided, and in a further arrangement Fig. 5 (not shown) two grooves face towards projections (40), (41) extending from the pin. In other arrangements, Figs. 6-8 (not shown) the retaining means is constituted on one or a pair of L-shaped arms (55) or (44), (45) integrally connected to the base or the top of the body portion whereby the arm or arms may be hinged into a position to cover the groove or grooves (53). In similar arrangements, Figs. 9-11 (not shown), the shank of the body portion is formed as a stud which snap engages the support.
