Abstract
715,125. Tubular heat-exchangers. BELLISS & MORCOM, Ltd. July 11, 1952 [July 19, 1951], No. 17148/51. Class 64(3) An air cooler comprises a casing a containing at least one assembly of parallel coolant tubes over which air is caused to flow from an air inlet b to an air outlet c provided on the casing the air' inlet and air outlet each extending over substantially the whole length of the tube assembly, a perforated plate e being provided in the air inlet and the air outlet to effect a uniform distribution of the air over the tubes, and headers i, k being provided to cause the coolant to flow through some of the tubes in one direction and through the other tubes in the opposite direction. In the form shown the headers k are each carried by a spigot m which is received in a socket n at the end of the casing. Two tube assemblies g, f are provided (see Fig. 2), the air flowing downwardly over tubes g and then upwardly over tubes f to the outlet, the casing being divided into two passes by a partition o. Any condensate from the cooled air is drained off by means of a cock r.
