Abstract
714,147. Grease guns. NEUMAN, C. J. May 25, 1951 [July 10, 1950; Oct. 2, 1950], Nos. 17250/50 and 24076/50. Classes 102 (1) and 102 (2). In a grease gun having a reciprocating pump 2 supplied from a reservoir 1 fitted with a piston 34 loaded by a spring 27 and sliding on a rod 19, the piston is retracted by engaging the pin 21 with bayonet slots 22 and is locked in the retracted position by a hexagonal head 25 which is passed through a hexagonal opening in the cover 18 and the rod 19 is turned so that the head engages the cover. The reservoir 1 has its bore enlarged to receive a renewable carton of grease 29 which rests on a shoulder in the bore; the shoulder may be undercut to prevent the edge turning inwards.
