Abstract
283,644. White, A. E., (Duplo Ges.). Oct. 14, 1926. Piston apparatus for discharging receptacles. - In a high-pressure grease gun a collapsable grease container supported laterally by the wall of the gun cylinder is screwed by its threaded neck 8 into the end of a hollow piston rod 5 carrying a conical piston 4 and containing an inner discharge pipe 14 with a flat closed end 16 and discharge openings 15. By rotating a nut 6 the piston is depressed so as to fill the pipe 14 and nozzle 17 with grease, when the end 20 of the nozzle is inserted in the opening to be charged, and the gun depressed to slide on the nozzle 17. The end 16 of the pipe 14 then acts as a piston to discharge the grease from the nozzle, and the gun is returned by the spring 22. A suction nipple., Fig. 5, with openings 29 may be screwed or fitted on the nozzle, whereby liquid such as paraffin may be drawn into, and discharged from, the nozzle 17 without disturbing the grease in the container. An attachment is shown in Fig. 10 for directing the grease at an angle, comprising a nipple 30 screwed to the r.ozzle 17 and adapted to slide over the lubricating point 36, a leather washer 40 being housed in a suitable recess.
