Abstract

1286869 Liquid pumps AFA CORP OF FLORIDA 1 Dec 1969 [29 Nov 1968] 58569/69 Heading F1A The liquid container 12, of e.g. a spray device 10, is closed by a screwed in cover 14, the cover or container being provided with an annular rib 70 which is an interference fit with a cylindrical surface on the container or cover, thereby to provide a seal which prevents egress of liquid but allows ingress of air. The cover 14 has a depending skirt 50 carrying threads 52 at its upper portion and a lower reduced thickness portion 68 forming the cylindrical surface or having the rib 20 integral therewith. The spray device comprises a pump cylinder 18 depending from the cover 14 and containing a piston 16 fixed by a rod 20 to a spray head 22. Manual depression of the head 22 sucks liquid up a diptube 28, past a non-return valve 30 into a cylinder chamber above the piston 16. Thus liquid is stored in the chamber under the pressure of a spring 32 until released by the opening of a valve 40.
