713,266. Road-gritting apparatus. LUKE, J. S. Aug. 25, 1952 [Aug. 24, 1951], No. 19970/51. Class 6 (1) A road-gritting machine comprises a tipping- lorry 4 having partitions 5 within the body 3 attached to the tailboard 2 and converging rearwardly towards it to form a shoot through which material may pass, via an adjustable gate 6, on to a delivery shoot 7 which directs it on to the surface of a rotary vaned-disc 9 for distribution over the ground. The disc is carried by an arm mounted on a vertical pillar 15 secured to the shoot 7 and is driven frictionally by a wheel 10. The wheel is carried by a fork 12 pivoted to the pillar 15 so as to contact both the ground and the underside of the disc when the body 3 is tilted. The spaces 27 between the partitions 5 and the body 3 provide stations for operators controlling the gate 6 and the flow of material.
