Abstract
818,315. Land distributers. KELLER & KNAPPICH GES. June 12, 1957 [June 16, 1956], No. 8481/57. Class 6(1). [Also in Group XXX] A device 24, Fig. 1, for scattering material from a vehicle is fed from a rotary drum 7 formed with an internal feeding thread 8. As illustrated the thread 8 feeds sand to a bucket wheel 18 formed with blades 21, Fig. 2, which carries sand past an inner shield 17 to deliver it to a hopper 28 from which it falls to a centrifugal scattering device 24. A flap 20 controls the rate at which sand is fed through the stationary front face 15 of the drum to the wheel 18. A flap 28 normally closing the upper part of the front face 51 of the drum can be turned about a pivot 27 so that material fed through a shoot 29 passes into the drum 7. The apparatus is preferably mounted on a frame 4 which can be removed from the chassis 1 and the drum 7 may be driven from the engine of the vehicle. Side plates 26, Fig. 2, limit the scattering angle. In an alternative construction, Figs. 3 and 4, (not shown), the drum 7 is shorter and delivers directly to a shoot leading to a scattering device 24 at the rear of the vehicle.
