Abstract

889,606. Sand spreading machines. TORREY, A. J. Nov. 17, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 38962/59. Class 6(1). A sand spreading apparatus comprises a reversible endless conveyer 34 (not shown) which feeds sand from a hopper 10 to a pair of shoots 31 which direct the sand to a pair of spinners 40, the controls for the conveyer and spinners being located in the driving station of a vehicle 3 in which the apparatus is mounted. As shown the vehicle is a tipping truck and the hopper 10 is secured to the body 2 by means of clamp assemblies. The volume of sand delivered is controlled by an adjustable gate. The spinners are adjustable about a transverse drive shaft 42 which is driven together with the conveyer 34 (not shown) by means of a separate motor 30. In a modification the spinners may be mounted at the front of the hopper and a hydraulic drive may be used so that the direction of motion of the conveyer may be reversed.
