Abstract
987,991. Sampling granular material. YAWATA IRON & STEEL CO. Ltd. July 5, 1961, No. 24353/61. Heading B8N. A device for sampling powdery, granular or lumpy substances being carried on a conveyer comprises a carriage placed next to the end of the conveyer and movable back and forth across the width of the conveyer. A samping body is hung on the carriage and comprises a belt conveyer running on rollers and a motor pulley that drives it in a direction across the direction of movement of the carriage to convey the coupled material to a receiver. As shown, a carriage 3 is mounted, on a mount 16 and is reciprocated across the full width of a conveyer belt 6, at its discharge end, by cable 13 and driving device 5. It carries a samping body 1, having a sampling port, the size of which may be adjusted by means of the pivoted plates 2<SP>1</SP> and the adjusting screw rod 15. The sampling body carries a conveyer belt driven by a motor pulley (not shown) which discharges the sample into the receiver 4. The bulk from which the sample has been withdrawn falls on to the conveyer 7.
