Abstract

1,255,197. Reciprocating conveyers. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 3 March, 1970 [14 March, 1969], No. 13475/69. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions E1-E2] An apparatus for packing debris in mines comprises a series of paddle devices such as 24 pivotally mounted on respective advanceable mine roof supports and angularly displaceable by hydraulic means as at 29 to move debris along a pack 20. Each device 24 has adjustable paddles 34 which are held vertical during the packing stroke and are pivoted to a non- operating position during the return stroke. The means 29 is a ram or a rack and pinion mechanism. The devices 24 may be powered from a common hydraulic source with a pressuresensitive changeover valve for actuating each return stroke. A retaining wall 40 prevents spillage of the pack, which is fed with debris over a retaining plate 22 by a conveyer.
