Abstract

712,785. Gas-blast circuit-breakers. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GES. April 10, 1952 [April 12, 1951; April 14, 1951; May 18, 1951], No. 9185/52. Class 38(5) A circuit-breaker, particularly of the extinguishing-head type, comprises a cylinder 13 arranged around a tube 40 in which the contact 3 is movable. Compressed gas is supplied to a space 8 from a pipe 4 and through a space 5 and exhausts partly through a nozzle 10 and the contact 3 and through a passage 14 between cylinder 3 and tube 40. A ring 9 at the end of tube 40 is of metal which does not easily vaporize. Contact 3 may be solid, Fig. 1a (not shown), and the end 13a of cylinder 13 may have a metal insert to equalize the voltage, Fig. 1 (not shown). This insert may be connected to the tube 40 so as to screen the contacts: The space 5 between tube 40 and the outer housing 1 may be omitted. The nozzle may be arranged at an angle to the vertical, the contact 3 co-operating with a resilient hollow contact formed on the end of a disconnect blade, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown)..
