Abstract

712,000. Gas-blast switches. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. March 11, 1953 [April 25, 1952], No. 10500/52. Class 38(5) The fixed nozzle contacts 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are carried at outer ends of a tubular casing 1, 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and are engageable by movable contacts 12, 12<SP>1</SP> carried by pistons 15 in a metal tube 8 secured axially of the casing. The contacts are urged outwards by springs 16, 16<SP>1</SP> and are retracted by pressure gas which also exhausts through contacts 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. The casing has covers 3, 3<SP>1</SP> which are removable to permit withdrawal of the movable contacts and tube 8 through either end of the casing.
