709,671. Supply arrangements for hot water boilers. PLAISIER, P. J. April 2, 1952 [April 5, 1951], No. 8370/52. Class 64(1) [Also in Group XXXV] In a thermostatically-controlled electrically heated hot-water boiler, (see Group XXXV), the cold water feed pipe 4 extends for a certain distance into the interior of the boiler, and the supply of cold water is controlled by a temperature-sensitive member 24 situated in the pipe 4, at a distance from its outlet, which closes the circuit of a magnetically operated valve 5 which opens to admit cold water when the temperature of the water already present in the boiler reaches a predetermined value. Depending upon the position of the thermostat 24 in the pipe 4 the cold water flowing in the pipe is preheated, this being promoted by means of heat conducting supports 25. Hot water is drawn off through a pipe 6 which is provided with a flat collar 27 to prevent mixing of the hot and cold water when the water level is low, and an overflow pipe 13 prevents the water from rising above a predetermined level. The loss of heat where the pipes enter the wall of the boiler may be reduced by means of heat-insulating members as at 28.
