In a central heating and hot-water supply system, a storage water heater 1 has two spaced walls defining an annular chamber 3 containing a pipe 4 or pipes helically coiled around the storage tank 1, the primary flow passing through the coiled pipe or pipes. A helical partition 5 arranged between the turns of the pipe 4 or pipes forms a helical path for water for the radiators 7. The primary water in the pipe or pipes 4 heats the radiator water and the drawoff water in the tank 1.
