Abstract

709,306. Well packers. BAKER OIL TOOLS, Inc. Dec. 13, 1951, No. 29214/51. Class 85 In a well packer of the type in which the packer 46, on being compressed between relatively movable abutments 20, 25 of the packer supporting means 10, causes a pliant inelastic annulus 45, positioned between the packer and one or both abutments, to slide radially outwards and be deformed so as to seal the annular space between the abutment and the well casing, the annulus 45 acts on a thrust ring 55, 56 to force radially outwards a split metal ring 60, 65 to blank off said annular space so as to prevent extrusion of the annulus and packer past the abutment.
