Abstract

In the manufacture of a photo-electric or secondary-electron-emitting electrode, bismuth and gold are deposited by evaporation from an alloy thereof, the deposit being sensitized by exposure to oxygen and an alkali metal. Bismuth and gold in the proportions of 2 to 1 are evaporated in vacuum from a bead of the alloy on to a glass surface. In the construction of a mosaic screen, the metal may be deposited through a mesh, the wires of which are of triangular cross-section, one side of which rests on the screen.
