Abstract

693,678. Television pick-up tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 9, 1951 (Nov. 13, 1950], No. 26276/51. Class 39(i) A television camera tube for producing electron-optical image magnification by photo-emission and electrical acceleration of electrons comprising a scanning electrode system provided on the same side of the image electrode as the electron-optical projection means and arranged in a side branch of the tube, is characterised in that a metal wall coating 17 is applied as a conductive layer to the inner wall of the side branch in order to avoid unequal potential distribution and at its end 18 nearer the electrode system is of a metal which binds caesium vapour. The coating 17 may be of aluminium and the coating 18 is preferably of gold but may be of silver; a deposit 11 of caesium binding material may be applied to the wall of the main part of the envelope. The photo-cathode may comprise a thin transparent layer 9 of indium covered with a layer 10 of silver or antimony and caesium.
