Abstract
708,892. Voltage and resistance measurements. LUFTTECHNISCHE GES. July 7, 1952 [July 6, 1951], No. 17095/52. Class 37. The resistance between the plates of a condenser is measured by charging from a source of high potential in series with a second condenser and measuring the alteration of the charge on the first condenser when the charging potential is removed. Ionization of atmospheric air is measured by passing the air between the plates 1a, 1b of a measuring condenser 1 in the direction of the arrow. The lower plate 1 a is earthed and potential is applied to the upper plate 1b from a source 2 in series with a condenser 3 and a two-way switch 6, which has its upper contact 6b connected to the source 2 and its lower contact 6a earthed. Ganged with the switch 6 is a switch 4 which in its lower position connects the plate 1b through a conductor 5 to a measuring instrument (not shown). The source 2 is earthed at its centre and a reversing switch 7 enables the polarity of the voltage applied to the plate 1 b to be reversed.
