647,990. Determining physical qualities of materials. SHAW, J. L. Nov. 5, 1948, No. 28751. [Class 37] Apparatus for determining the moisture content of textile material comprises a condenser cell consisting of an open-topped rectangular box, whose larger sides are metal plates 1, 2, covered on the inside and outside with a sheet of insulating material 3, 5, 6, 7, the remaining sides and the base being of insulating material. The box is packed with a known weight of the material to be tested, using the tool shown in Fig. 2, and the impedance of the condenser box is determined by the circuit of Fig. 3, wherein A, C is applied at F, G across the condenser box A in series with a fixed resistance C, and the voltage across the resistance C is measured. The Provisional Specification also refers to the use of a cylindrical condenser with a central electrode.
