678,430. Electric tests and measurements. AMERICAN TOBACCO CO. March 20, 1951 [April 20, 1950], No. 6667/51. Class 37. Apparatus for measuring the moisture content of tobacco in a bin 22 comprises an electrode assembly 6 containing two rows of electrodes joined in parallel, supported from a box of large area, attached to a piston 5 in an air cylinder 2, so that the electrodes are forced into the tobacco under pressure for a predetermined period before measuring the current flowing through the tobacco when an E.M.F. is applied to the electrodes.
