794,967. Capacitive measurement of moisture content. QUAKER OATS CO. Dec. 17, 1956, No. 38469/56. Class 37. In a test cell for the capacitive measurement of moisture content a fluent material is driven vertically upwards by a screw device 31 through a hollow cylinder 32 and 36 and past a coaxial electrode 44. The capacity measurement is made at a radio frequency. The screw is fed by a hopper 11 which is in turn fed by a conduit 10 large enough to ensure that the hopper is always substantially full. The material enters the cylinder 32 by openings 34. The electrode 44 is insulated by a sleeve 45 and a bullet-shaped nose 46 and is mounted insulatively by a steel tube 49 and a readily detachable yoke 35. The diameter of the shaft 19 is the same as that of the sleeve 45 so that a uniform and continuous flow is maintained through the condenser.
