802,834. Popcorn flavouring apparatus. GENERAL FOODS CORPORATION. May 15, 1956 [Aug. 2, 1955], No. 15076/56. Class 49. Apparatus for flavouring popcorn comprises a conduit 14 for feeding popcorn through a restricted mouth 15 on to the periphery of a circular plate 21 which is rotated on a shaft 18, the popcorn being retained on the plate 21 by a fence 28 secured by brackets 24 and 25 to a base-plate 10. Tubes 11 and 12 pass through the base-plate 10 and distribute powdered and liquid flavouring materials respectively on to the moving popcorn. Tube 11 is secured to the plate 10 and can serve as means for securing the apparatus beneath a conventional popcorn machine. In addition, an auger 46 passes through the tube 11 and is rotated to facilitate the distribution of powdered flavouring material on to the popcorn, the auger 46 and shaft 18 being geared to the same motor. The fence 28 is provided with a discharge plate which deflects the coated popcorn into a receiver.
