Abstract

804,323. Electric tests. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 23, 1957 [Jan. 23, 1956], No. 2186/56. Class 37. Surface cracks in a body are detected by feeding a high-frequency current through the body and detecting the change in H.F. potential which occurs between a pair of spaced probes moved over the surface when they are astride a crack. The electrodes may be connected to an amplifier and indicator. The H.F. may be applied by a further pair of probes which may be mounted on the same holder as the measuring probes so that all four are moved over the surface under test together.
