Abstract

1,101,011. Electro-physical measurement. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Jan. 6, 1967 [Jan. 13, 1966], No. 1637/66. Heading G1N. A weld 2 between a tube 1 and a plate 7 is inspected by passing a constant amplitude current through the weld between a terminal 20 and a terminal 18 on a plug 14 which has been clamped within the bore by wedges 17, and measuring the voltage drop across the weld by a pair of resilient contacts 4a, 5b. Contacts 4a, 4b are mounted on a tube 8 which is rotated by a gear-wheel 9 so as to explore the circumference of the weld. Signals from contacts 4a, 4b are amplified and plotted on a chart.
