[Class 37] In a system for measuring a small voltage from a circuit of high internal resistance, the voltage is applied to the coil of a galvanometer movement without a restoring couple in opposition to the voltage drop in a resistance 12 due to rectified current from a local oscillator 6. The value of the current depends on the position of the movable vane 3 of a condenser 3, 4, 5 connected mechanically to the moving coil. Equilibrium is reached when the voltage to be measured equals the voltage across 12 and the value is read off on a current-measuring instrument 10. To compensate for the reaction on the condenser plate, the latter may be influenced by two additional fixed plates connected to an oscillator similar to the oscillator 6, Fig. 2 (not shown), or may be connected mechanically to the movable plate of a second condenser, the fixed plates of which are similarly connected. Several other arrangements with the same object are mentioned.
