Current or polarity is indicated by a glow-lamp 9 viewed through an aperture 15 in the end of its casing and connected through a high resistance 6 to a contact blade 1 in contact with the line under test, the circuit being completed to earth through the body of the operator. The blade 1 may be a screwdriver, and the lamp 9 is connected by a spring to the resistance 6.
