[Classes 37 and 38 (i)] A diode for A.C. measuring instruments has an outer metal strip or casing 10 connected, e.g. to the cathode and a sliding contact 14 thereon so that the spacing between contacts 14 and 11 may be adjusted to suit the spacing between the points across which the measurement is to be taken. Preferably the sliding contact is coated with silver flashed with rhodium to provide low resistance to high frequency.
