585,180. Indicating weight. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., FAGAN, C. P., and PARTINGTON, G. E. Aug. 28, 1944, No. 16311. [Class 40 (i)] A weight to be measured i carried by a horizontally arranged arm secured in the manner of an indicating points to a conventional ammete: movement, the current througl which is adjusted manually.or automatically so as to hold the arm against a stop or mark, the weight being indicated by a suitably cali-measuring instru ment. As shown, the arm controls a contact s which when closed allows a condenser to discharge through a resistance r and so raise the grid voltage of a thermionic tube T, the anode current of which passes through the measuring instrument and the ammeter movement. This current thus increases until the arm just opens contact s and the anode is then a measure of the weight. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the tube is omitted, the ammeter movement and measuring instrument being in series with resistance rg.
