Abstract
708,807. Supplying liquid fuel; cycles; regulating. SOC. ANON DES USINES CHAUSSON. July 25, 1950 [July 29, 1949], No. 18548/50. Classes 7(2), 7(3) and 7(6) Injection nozzles 6 ... 9, Fig. 1, injecting into auxiliary chambers 10...13 connected to the cylinders of a two-stroke engine through valves 37 are fed by a pump 3 provided with a by-pass 18 leading back to the fuel supply tank 1, the by-pass having situated therein an adjustable needle valve 21 and a spring-loaded valve 29. The fuel is injected continuously through the nozzles 6...9 and the valves 37 are opened at the beginning of the compression stroke, when rich fuel-air mixture under pressure flows from the chambers 10 . . . 13 to mix with the air in the cylinders, and later in the stroke fresh fuel-air mixture is forced back from the cylinders into the chambers 10 . . . 13 until the valves 37 close. The mixture remaining in the cylinder is compressed and ignited and the mixture in the chambers 10...13 enriched by fuel from the nozzles 6 . . . 9 until the valves 37 open at the beginning of the next compression stroke. The spring-loading of the by-pass valve 29 is adjustable by movement of the abutment 32 and is preferably arranged so that the valve opens at a fuel pressure equal to the average pressure in the chambers 10...13.
