Abstract
1336797 Regulating I. C. engines GORKOVSKY AVTOMOBILNY ZAVOD 2 April 1971 8524/71 Heading F1B In an I. C. engine having a main combustion chamber 6 and a precombustion chamber 4, fuel is delivered by a reciprocating pump 1. During starting, idling and low load operation, fuel is supplied only through nozzle 3 into the chamber 4. However, as the load increases the resulting increasing delivery from the pump 1 creates a rise in pressure in pipes 2, 21 during each discharge stroke of the pump, thereby opening a pressure-actuated valve 18 in synchronism with the pump discharge strokes. Thus, pressurized gas from the engine cylinder passes through pipe 17 into a jet pump 9 and a fuel tank 11 in which the fuel level is maintained by a float and needle arrangement 13, 14. The pressurized gas causes fuel to flow along tube 12 and be injected into inlet passage 8 through atomizer 10. Moreover, the loss of pressurized gas from the cylinder through pipe 17, reduces the degree of compression of the remaining mixture. An excess-fuel by-pass port 22 and a spark plug 7 are provided.
