708,804. Returning combustion products to furnaces. TODD OIL BURNERS, Ltd. March 19, 1951 [March 29, 1950], No. 7849/50. Class 51 (1) In an oil-fired combustion chamber the inert gas from the products of combustion is partly conducted back into a space or spaces provided between the furnace shell and a refractory lining for said shell, this refractory lining being provided with openings through which the inert gas from the space or spaces between the furnace shell and the refractory lining can pass into the combustion chamber. As shown in Fig. 1 combustion products are supplied by pipes 6 and 7 to an annular series of spaces 3 between a shell 1 and a refractory lining formed by bricks 2, the combustion products entering the combustion chamber through apertures 4. Air entering at 21 an outer annuular chamber 14 mixes with combustion products entering from conduit 7 and passes through an intermediate annular space 12 to an air register 18 of the burner.
