707,907. Endless belt conveyers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ROBSON, R. July 1, 1952 [June 7, 1951], No. 13552/51. Class 78 (1) A cleaning device for a belt conveyer comprises a flexilble V- shaped scraper member adapted to be wrapped partially around and drawn by tension into contact with the conveying surface of the belt where it is supported by a pulley or the like, said scraper member being disposed at least mainly below a horizontal plane passing through the axis of rotation of the pulley or the like. As shown, the belt 10 is supported by a pulley 11 so as to discharge material into a shoot 12 and material adhering to the belt is also discharged into the shoot by a scraper consisting of two strips 14 of rubber or canvas belting joined together by a metal plate 15 and attached at their upper ends by cleats 16 to a part of the conveyer framework. The scraper is held in close contact with the belt by a hook 17 engaging the plate 15, tension being applied to the hook by a spring 18.
