[Class 78 (i)] An idler or troughing roller comprises a metal shell f mounted on a spindle and provided with a rubber cover c which has ribs or bars d upstanding from its outer surface. The ribs may be arranged parallel or inclined to the axis of the roller or in chevron or helical form. In the case of a belt supported by sets of rollers each comprising a central idler with a wing idler on each side, ribbed rollers are arranged in alternate sets on opposite sides of the belt.
